World Population Clock Updated with New Features

The U.S. Census Bureau recently updated its popular World Population Clock Web tool with features and information for 228 countries. In addition to featuring the 10 most populous countries, already available in the clock, it now includes country profiles with trade and population statistics, such as total population, population per square kilometer, and goods exported from and imported to the United States. Additional features include graphics on population projections and top exported goods by U.S. state or territory.
Along with the updated clock, another new tool, the International Map Viewer, is now available. This tool shows the four most commonly requested demographic measures for foreign countries using statistics from the International Data Base — total population, growth rate percent, life expectancy at birth and infant mortality rate — by clicking on a world map.

World Statistics Pocketbook 2014 edition

The World Statistics Pocketbook is an annual compilation of key economic, social and environmental indicators, presented in one-page profiles. This edition includes country profiles for 217 countries or areas of the world....

This issue of the World Statistics Pocketbook covers various years from 2005 to 2014. For the economic indicators, in general, three years - 2005, 2010 and 2012 - are shown, unless otherwise indicated. Due to space limitations, data for one year only are shown for the indicators in the social and environmental categories. For the six social indicators for which the range of years 2010-2015 is shown, the data refer to projections. When other ranges of years are shown, the data refer to the most recent year available within that range.

World Travel Trends Report 2012/2013

From ITB Berlin:

The report covers the main trends in outbound travel demand for the first eight months of 2012 together with estimates for the full year and also contains ini- tial forecasts for 2013...

In addition, it focuses on various topics and market segments that were discussed at the Forum. These include the role of technology and social media, the challenges facing the cruise business, niche markets such as adventure travel and medical tourism, and the need for better accessibility for people with disabilities.

As the following sections make clear, the world travel industry again proved its resilience and ability to overcome crises this year. Despite many different negative factors, the travel and tourism industry is expected to reach a new all-time high in 2012. According to IPK’s World Travel Monitor, outbound (international) trips will increase by 4% in 2012, which is only slightly lower than last year’s 5% growth figure.
