The Environmental Conservation Law Section 11-0533.8 requires the Department to publish a list of guides. The information provided in the search engine fulfills that requirement. Data changes occur each business day.
Currently there are approximately 2,500 licensed guides in New York. The Search Wizard will help you find the individual or group in the specific category and location. The full list is available by selecting all counties and all categories.

Deer Harvest Reports & Information By State
Deer harvest reports are useful because deer hunters use them to identify the densest deer populations. Some states even break down their reports by county, game type and hunter type, or show them over time so that you can identify trends. Most deer harvest reports are funded in part by the purchase of hunting licenses and tags.
The real interest of this topic, for me as an information specialist, is this:
Other funding that has come from the government has been cut drastically or eliminated altogether. You will notice that some of the states have not updated their deer harvest statistics for a couple of years due to lack of funds.
More here.

New York State Sporting License Sales Summary
The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation tracks statistics of the various hunting and fishing licenses offered in New York State. One could go to the main DEC page and search for license sales summary; the information will be the link to the first result.
At the very bottom of the page is a link to Sales by County. When you download a year's report by county - the data goes back to the 2002-2003 season - one will see plus signs (+) in the far left column that, when clicked on, will provide additional info for that particular county.

Hunting and Fishing
National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation (FHWAR)
Presents microdata records (with any information that might identify a specific person or household removed) on individuals involved in fishing, hunting, and other wildlife-associated recreation, such as wildlife observation, photography, and feeding. Data include state in which these activities occurred; number of trips taken; duration of trips; and expenditures for food, lodging, transportation, and equipment. The survey was conducted by the Census Bureau for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Department of the Interior, which prepares printed reports in this field.
